Borderlands 4 has been out on Xbox for just under a week now, and despite positive early reviews from the press, players have suffered a bunch of performance issues around launch – and the team has now suggested a temporary workaround for a specific problem on console.
Basically, folks have been complaining that Borderlands 4 performance actually gets worse the longer your play session is on console. In response, Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford has suggested that players should try rebooting the game when these performance issues occur – and while the dev namedrops PS5 Pro in their response, we’re seeing complaints of these same issues happening on Xbox Series X|S as well.
This is a particularly irritating issue because, well, it’s not immediately apparent when first playing the game or testing out various performance modes. We covered a quick performance comparison for Borderlands 4 on Xbox right around launch and saw no such issues – but that’s because you seemingly have to keep playing for them to potentially crop up.
Of course, not everyone is suffering from this so if your experience with the game has been fine so far then by all means keep doing what you’re doing, but folks having issues may well want to try this fix out. And, hopefully, Gearbox issues a patch for performance issues ASAP so players can continue to enjoy Borderlands 4 on Xbox without having to perform regular restarts.
